Digital India – A vision by the government, An expectation
by the youth, A mystery for the public
What does digital India mean? This question which pops into
everyone’s mind and heart when they hear the term. It may also seem as an
unattainable fruit to some. This is true to some extent. But this will
definitely create a great change in the life of every individual. More than
anything, I see this as stepping stone towards a safer nation. Safe nation is
slowly becoming a distant dream. Some blame the women. Some blame the men. But
maybe both and to some extent the nation as a whole is also responsible. Men harass
women because they think they are helpless and vulnerable. Women allow this
because they think men are stronger. Indians are not heartless enough to allow
a crime happen right in front of their nose. Sometimes they become worried
about the consequences of helping others. Thanks to the laws and corruption.
I have always wondered what would be the hope and thought of
a women during tough times. She will definitely call for help to all the Gods
of the world. Unfortunately Miracles don’t happen always. Self help groups and NGO
are always trying to help women. But people are not always successful. Calling
police or a friend might be the last thing in a person’s mind when she runs for
her life. The meek person is always the one to be harassed. People think twice
and maybe even more, to attack a strong and brave woman.
Imagine she has a smart watch or a smart ring. She touches
it when she is in trouble. The nearest police and self help group gets an
alert. Her location is tracked through GPS. The help reaches her within
minutes. This may not be as simple as it sounds. But this is surely help in
decreasing the crime rate. Rape or Harassment can occur due to anyone’s fault.
Ultimately, the person who gets affected is the victim and family. In India,
most crimes are not reported in the name of honor and society. The victim is
doomed to serve her life in solitude and guilt.
A crime stopped is a life saved. Sometimes more than one
life is saved. The victim and the attacker and their families and the list go
on. Most of all, Our Nation will become the safest place in the world.
The safer nation project is not easy to start and execute.
It involves a lot of patience and whole lot of effort. We would require a
technology support from companies like Intel,
Affordable equipment and support and most important of all we would require
support from the public. It surely has its pros and cons. Still it is a great
step towards a safer healthier nation and our #DigitalIndia Dream. And this is
not possible without the help of technology and Government.
