On a freezing cold night
The world was busy as well
So involved in their little lives
The family huddled together
And separately of course
With their eyes glued on their phones
And mouths filled with food
They did not realise their blessing
The love and warmth of their loved ones
Their abundance was a curse in disguise
They pulled their blanket
And settled into the soft bed without a second thought
The bed was an object of comfort
They never really appreciated it
The brand mattered
Rather than the blessing of it
Somewhere someone knew the value of it
But did not have the chance to experience it
They gathered the waste paper
Lit a fire with the available stuff
They were grateful for the warmth
And the family they had
The shortage gave them a valuable lesson
It taught them gratitude
And the ability to appreciate life
